@SuricrasiaOnline the blockchain would be better if everyone just copied it for themselves. Then everyone gets all the bitcoins.

@SuricrasiaOnline bittorrent has BEPs (BitTorrent Enhancement Proposal) which makes it better than bitcoin's BIPs because one makes BEEP other makes <not BEEP>

@SuricrasiaOnline if you drill a hole in the middle of a bitcoin you can string a blockchain through them and make a fun crafty necklace.

@mymempool Can we construct systems that don't require money? Can we share resources efficiently instead of imposing ownership on something as fundementally duplicable as data?My original is an apples to oranges comparison, but this is intentional. I'm trying to point out what kinds of technologies we cherish, and those that are shunned, because they either go against or support the economic systems we find ourselves in

@SuricrasiaOnline I totally get what you mean.We "could" construct systems that don't require money. Should we ? Don't you think money is an essential human construct ?

@mymempool I think a big problem with money is that it is used as a indicator of value, particularly the idea that "a person is more valuable if they have more money." Stated clearly like that it's easy to reject, but it forms the foundations of ideas like "you should be able to pay for better medical treatment for yourself" which are not so readily rejected.(cont)

@mymempool This is why universal healthcare is so important. This is a scenario that doesn't require money to the "end-user." And if everyone's life is equally valuable, why should money ever factor into the equation?Of course money is still a factors at administrative levels, and I think this is necessary for now in order for the healthcare system to properly interface with the capitalist society we live in.(cont)

@mymempool It's kinda weird to bring up universal healthcare in a conversation about blockchain and bittorrent, I guess, but I think it gives you an idea of my general opinion on money.

@SuricrasiaOnline I think today's money fails globally as a unit of account : govs print money out of thin air since decades in order to sustain our "need" for economic growth (keeps social cohesion). Since 2008 this fake money has been used to save the banks (too big to fail). As a result, most of the money printed by govs never goes into the real world economy but into financial bubbles that enrich the already riches...

@SuricrasiaOnline I have the chance to live in a country that provides universal healthcare, so I couldn't agree more. But we should recognize that when something is free (ie when we forget that things have value), we tend to abuse it. For example, France is by far the biggest consumer of medicinal drugs in the world, and french people don't have a better health or lifespan than others.

@mymempool I don't really see what you're trying to say with that screenshot. Is ATP really a molecular currency, or have we just anthropomorphized it as such? And even then, how does the existence of a molecular system that mirrors our currency systems give inherit value to those systems? Does it follow that biology always does things the best way, and we should always follow in its footsteps without considering other systems?

@SuricrasiaOnline In some countries (Venezuela, Argentina, Zimbabwe...), money fails also as a store of value, because of hyperinflation.

@mymempool I agree that the modern day value of money has diverged massively from what we should really consider to be valuable.

@mymempool I'm from Canada, another country with universal healthcare. There are always downsides to things, and nothing is perfect, so I don't contend that overmedication can be a result of free meds, however I think that's a small price to pay compared to the capitalist alternative, and could be solved without bringing money into it.

@SuricrasiaOnline ATP is the medium by which cells exchange value (energy). I can't think of a system that does not process, stock, receive or send value to others systems, be it a living organism, a planet, a star, or a social construct. There is no such thing as a closed system, there will always be interactions to consider.
