i frequently wonder if Everyone Is John is offensive to plural folk but i really hope it isn't because it's one of the more fun games out there(for those not familiar, Everyone Is John is a game where the main character, John, is played by the GM and is going insane. Players are each a voice in John's head, each of which may have any number of strange goals that give them varying numbers of points, and players wrench control of John from each other trying to achieve each of their goals and causing extreme chaosone of my favorite examples of a playthrough was a Lovecraftian spin where the voices sprung up after John read the necronomicon and there was a Lovecraftian conspiracy going on at the college he worked at

@QueerGirlAudrey @monorail I'm not sure i agree that it's designed to be offensive to mentally ill people? but i can see how it isi don't think your average person would think twice about writing a game like this because mentally ill people just aren't something they think about and this would feel like a realistic example of "going insane" to them, but turned into a fun party game

@QueerGirlAudrey @monorail that said, as a mentally ill person it's personally never bothered me i guess, I'd never really thought twice about that part of it -- "going insane" is just a common enough concept that i didn't even really associate it with mental illness for some reason

@gasp one of the things that always confused me is that the oneshot crew are such sweethearts and actively support oppressed groups and stuff and there was no real comment in regards to everyone is john

@pea i mean, it was one of the first games they played, and i think they've learned to be more proactive over time?also, i mean, i love them and all but when they don't realise something is shitty they REALLY don't realise it, in my experience.but yeah the whole network is pretty fucking great imo. i also love six feats under for that good good queer tabletop content
