       in case you're wondering what happened, a couple days ago this dude i've known for almost 20 years who rarely posted here came on and said some creepy shit. i and the other mods weren't sure how to interpret it, so we waited for him to explain himself. in the interim, i was being screamed at by a dozen people that my friend is a rapist and i defensively said he's not a rapist only moments before he admitted to me that he had in fact committed a sexual assault. so i banned him and cut off our friendship. this all took place in the span of five minutes. but that one moment when i defensively said he wasn't a rapist – because i was feeling attacked – led to a whole thing with people saying i was defending a rapist (i hadn't) and that i was doubling down (i immediately apologized even before he admitted it).
