I mean... the hard truth that no one wants to admit in America is that a lot of people don't mind being exploited for the sake of convenience.People know how bad Google, FB, Twitter, etc are when it comes to respecting their rights. They don't care. Why? B/c it's easy.Being more responsible for your online persona means learning more and putting in a bit more effort to stay on top of it.Most people just don't care.Google's popularity is reflection of our national attitude towards work

@Are0h Today I spent some time considering the effort it would take me to move my main email away from Google. That address is decades old: a lot of services reach me through it. And that means it will take me a lot of effort to ween myself off. If I spend half an hour a day, it will take me a year. Worth it.

@Are0h most people I know don't even see it as exploitation. They think it's a fair trade.

@Are0h Yeah, those companies aren't spending billions to control our hearts and minds. We're just forcing them to ludicrously succeed , with our bad attitudes.

@Are0h It's frustrating how complacent people are in being oppressed, but I think their complacency is manufactured, and it's too hasty to blame them for allowing themselves to be victimized.

@cy @Are0h The oppressed internalize the values of the oppressors and either support the system that drive the oppression or reproduce their exact behavior (to gain their favor or just because it make them feel better). It's a process described by Paulo Freire in the "Pedagogy of the Oppressed".An education that teach non-violence and spread culture is the only true way out of any oppression.Unfortunately, #education requires hard work for little to no power/money.#Hate pays much better.

@Are0h, I replied to @cy who was replying to you.I think you have all tools you need to ignore my posts if they hurt your feelings WITHOUT becoming aggressive. πŸ˜‡It used to be part of #netiquette to not speak about people without giving them the possibility to reply, so I'm not going to do this to you.In any case, feel free to ignore my posts if they somehow reach your sight.I promise I will not feel offended by your silence as I'm not offended by your words. πŸ˜‰

@Shamar Ha, it's funny how you talk about how AGGRESSIVE I am, but you continuously include me in your non-sense, despite the fact you know I have no interest in your thoughts. So for the second time, stop including me in your bullshit. I get that hurts your feelings, but grow the fuck up and go away. We're not going to get along. You being a dickhead about it and trying to force it is not helping.

@Shamar For the third time, leave me out whatever it is you're doing. You don't want to debate or talk. You want me to agree with your bullshit.A grown up could just walk away and agree to disagree. Why you cannot simply take no for an answer is creepy and weird, man.

@Are0h > You don't want to debate or talk. You want me to agree with your bullshit.I'm always open to discuss with anybody, you included. But for sure I don't want to convince you or anybody else about anything.I have nothing to sell.I replied to someone else, mentioning you as a courtesy and since then you keep blathering about what I am, what I'm doing and so on.You said nothing about my comment.A grown up that has nothing to say would say nothing, don't you think?
