@freedombone @olimex @bobAnother things I'd like to be able to do through the UI is to decide the storage of each App (eg if I install a torrent client and I want files in the attached usb hd).

@espectalll @sn0w Why should people opt-out from shit? People should opt-in instead! It's the same as with #JavaScript: #Mozilla developers insist to force unsafe shit on people and then justify themselves by pointing to about:config options!People should be secure by default! Opt-in #security does not work! They never learn.https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1487081#c16Disgusting.

@espectalll @sn0w People also want free beer, no taxes and so on.. πŸ˜‰ Also I guess they don't want their bank to lose their money, or their hospital to leak their records.Well, automatic execution of #JavaScript and #HTTP Cache Control enable all this (and more) without leaving any evidence. You can also remote control a Tesla car! What can go wrong? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Really there is no possible justification for #Mozilla that not only leave people vulnerable to those #JS attacks, but unaware of them!

@Wolf480pl It was "about:config". πŸ˜‰No choice, just ugly config.Insecurity through obscurity.

@Wolf480pl I was not insisting I was right, just kidding about the fact that they actually consider all this fine. It's not THIS issue. It's not even THAT issue. It's their approach that is broken at the core.

@espectalll I'm sorry for you if that's how you use the Internet. ALL people I know have a wider perception of it (thanks to Bittorrent, Wikipedia and so on)@sn0w

@espectalll In Chrome you can disable JavaScript by default and enable it by website in a two click and a reload. It could be done with a single click, and the inconvenience is there on purpose, but it's possible.Compare this to #Firefox's about:config. But this is not the point. If Mozilla disabled JavaScript by default people would ask "Are you crazy?". Then Mozilla would be in the position to explain those attacks. What Governments would do then? It's easy: end of #Chrome. πŸ˜‰@sn0w

@sn0w "We disabled JS because any website you visit could tunnel into your private network despite your #Firewall and #Proxy, create false evidence of crimes on your smartphone, attack third parties on your behalf, discover what other page you visit though cache timing attacks and much more. All leaving no evidence on your machine except those that indict you.And yes, Chrome and IE/Edge are just as vulnerable as Firefox"This is all true.Did you know it?No.Thanks Mozilla!@espectalll

@espectalll They are part of WHATWG and they could work to fix these architectural issues. And the fun things is that NOWHERE in the Living Standards is said that JavaScript execution must be enabled by default, so technically speaking they could disable it by default without violating a single standard. But I see you justify Facebook because they have a lot of milking cows^W^W users, so...The majority CAN be wrong. And easily manipulated. And when this happens it MUST be ignored.@sn0w

@admin @bob I learnt about #TempleOS after his death and I was very sad.I think that TempleOS is probably one of the best #hack, of the most valuable #FreeSoftware we have right now.On par with #Oberon or #9front.Davis had a unique perspective, none of us "sane people" could have. I guess we'll find gems everybody overlooked, in his code.Ultimately, he was a fellow #hacker. He was talking with #God in a weird way.But all hackers are weird and we really need more hackers like him.

@loke @bob @lunaterra I'm from the same generation.πŸ˜ƒThe first program I broke (and fixed) was GORILLA.BAS.BASIC was... very basic. But as of today I wouldn't go for BASIC, but for something like #Oberon (if not Oberon itself).

@lokeI guess it is.Maybe you would like to try #TempleOS, a very innovative operating system that was explicitly designed as a playful learning platform from a recently passed #hacker named #TerryADavis. It's deeply inspired by #Commodore64 (in particular the UI), and it's completely written from scratch in #HolyC, a #C like language that is... somewhat unique.@cybette @bob @lunaterra

@loke @cybette @bob @lunaterraThe only problem I see with #C64 as a learning platform is #BASIC.Yes we all started with it so we might be somewhat nostalgic, but I was also severely exposed to #VisualBasic code maintenance: the pain was huge enough to say "Never again!"
