I want to make flash cards for my kids. They recognize letters now but not words. I'm thinking if I can let them use Anki deck with words on the front and voice that reads the words in the back they will be get it. The script will be used to generate these decks.

@mishari if they recognise letters, move up to 2 and 3 letter phonic pairs maybe?

@mightywomble my theory is that they they can recognize the shape of entire words, like Chinese alphabets or hieroglyphics. I'm filling it with words from their favorite books.

@mishari They do learn to recognize entire words by sight! That's why they're called "sight words". Great idea to make flash cards out of them, these are usually available in places that sell kids' books too.
