It firmly fits within DSM V's definition of a mental disorder, but I'm not sure if it does DSM IV since that uses some unclearly defined, theoretically prescriptive and academically controversial terms that aren't well reflected by what they actually consider disorder, e.g. psychobiology.I'm not sure why it's even a point of contention though, it doesn't really change anything on the Gay Question. Being a mental disorder doesn't mean it can't be genetic. It's not like it does anything to devalidate them, just as dysphoria doesn't.

I've been trying for 1.5yrs to get Alt-Right people interested in reparative therapy theories of the psychological origin of same sex attraction (basically boils down to a sensitive boy with an overbearing mother and an aloof or absent father) but the for some reason Alt-Right would rather go with the Lady Gaga "born this way" theory. (((They))) actually heart-attacked the guy who was doing most of this research a couple years ago (Joseph Nicolosi Sr. https://www.josephnicolosi.com/) now his son (Joseph Jr. https://www.reintegrativetherapy.com/) is carrying on the family business. They've got some pretty cool theories and it seems like it could really derail the current train of insanity we're on.
