Just a quick question - there's no problem with having NTFS and ext4 partitions on the same disk, is there?I'm doing this:Partition 1 - NTFS - 100gbPartition 2 - ext4 - 100gbPartition 3 - NTFS - 800gb

@DetectiveHyde there's been rumors of windows being retarded and nuking Linux partitions for lulz but I don't think it happens very oftenI have a similar setup going myself

@DetectiveHyde Unless you need the ext4 in Windows. That doesn't work.If you don't see anything in Linux, do an apt install ntfs-3g, should add support.

@DetectiveHyde Should be okay, just know that ext4 is basically unsupported in Windows, and NTFS write support is a bit experimental in Linux.(Yeh, there is basically no common FS outside of FAT32)

@DetectiveHyde if you want to use that 800GB partition for shared files, make sure that Windows is set to fully shut down and not hibernate. Otherwise it can lock that partition somehow. Otherwise, looks a lot like what I used to have!

@DetectiveHyde Yeah it should be fine (actually it looks like it has stabilized a bit, maybe since MS contributes to linux) but I wouldn’t use it for very important data.

@DetectiveHyde no, I have the same organization. The only thing is, windows 8 and 10 make false shutdowns. If you shut down windows the "normal" way, your Linux instance won't boot correctly the next time. You'll have to use (on/off button) > (press MAJ) + reboot > shut down the computer. (on win 8). And next boot, your Linux will boot correctly.

@DetectiveHyde Welcome to Linux, then!Plus, having a GRUB configured by installing Ubuntu makes installing something like Arch later on a bit easier.

@DetectiveHyde Well, you would better think of it, the suport ends on the 14th. january 2020. By then, you'll have switched full-Linux, right ?

@matograine Nah, OS obsolescence matters not to me. I'll keep windows 7 around unsupported, I'll just only boot into it for games that Linux hates.
