Right on cue, here is some secondary legislation (today) from the Ministry of Defence, allowing Reservists to be to be called into permanent service. This is part of Westminster's contingency planning for a no-deal #Brexit.Think about this the next time a Brexiteer blithely states: no-deal is better than a bad deal.https://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/written-questions-answers-statements/written-statement/Commons/2019-01-17/HCWS1254/#politics

@fitheach What could possibly go wrong?Methinks HM Government does not have a lot of hope in this #Brexit thing, right?

@ParadeGrotesque The westminster government will argue that these measures are just about contingencies in case supplies need to be moved around the country. This is bad enough.I don't doubt for one second that the army could be used for controlling an unruly public. Once basic necessities become scarce a usually passive public could become animated very quickly.I'm already seeing people on social media saying that supplies of insulin pumps are getting scarce. That is really scary.

@fitheach ‘controlled aggression’ - now that is an interesting phrase.

@jamie Army speak for hitting folk with batons, but the squaddies with the batons don't lose their temper.
