I sometimes catch myself wondering whether I should give in and move my IRC client into my web browser.

I have so many persistent fixtures in my web browsers (chat applications, mastodon) that moving IRC in with the rest of them would reduce the number of windows I have on my screen and the number of terminals I have open (my working environment is a collection of firefox windows and a collection of terminal windows flying in loose formation).

@multiplexdmy approach has been to try and move things into terminal windows when possible, rather than browser tabsi find im happier that way

@ky0ko Well, I know there are CLI mastodon clients which I could use, but a *lot* of the fediverse which I see involves multimedia, which I'd probably wind up needing a web browser for anyway.(Unfortunately, where I am facebook messenger is the standard instant messaging application for talking to friends, and as far as I know the only clients for that are the vendor mobile apps and the web client.)

@ky0ko The issue I have is that I don't have a facebook account, I just have a messenger account (because the android app allows you to create an account using a mobile number, and I have a burner phone for this purpose). So I'm not sure if any third-party plugins are going to work correctly.

@multiplexdit does support this case according to the documentation but I've not used it myself so i can't confirm that

@ky0ko I've compiled it and am now prodding around to see if I can make it work.
