i'm catching up on this long list of little TODOs tonight, and i moved primary computers not that long ago, which means i get to install things in at least three programming languages, which means a truly hilarious litany of tooling to install the language runtimes, and manage the language runtimes, and configure the language-specific paths of the executables, and install the libraries.

and then a chunk of what i am jumping through these hoops to install is configuration management software, which of course has as its sole purpose the management of tasks like the ones i am currently performing.i know how we got here and i remember the before time and i tell you what, i'm not going to say this is _worse_ than the era of fiddling with CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT to get wing commander to run with sound, but i'm not sure it's any better.

@brennen there is a reason (actually, multiple reasons) why I have a policy of "if it isn't into debian it doesn't exist" (exceptions can be made, but use methods where I'm constantly reminded that they are an exception) and "stuff that I need on my computer gets installed by an ansible playbook".Of course, I don't do development in javascript... :(

@valhalla If you consider things not in Debian as non-existing, that saves you from almost all JS packaging and development. 😀
