i'm losing to lvl 7 cpus again just barely but I'm much more conscientious of the actions i'm taking so it's an improvement i've decided

@pea assuming smash bros? Don't get too down on losing to CPUs, they read your inputs and perfectly shield / Dodge your attacks and set you up for impossible frame traps (ie no matter which action you take they'll hit you). It's good practice because some of the stuff they do is useful but you'll lose to a lot of bullshit. Play carefully and think out every move. The neutral game (on the ground, waiting to make a move) is the most important part of smash. There's a big human element to it as well so once you're feeling confident make sure to play against humans :). Smash is my fave game all time sorry for the information dump.

@krruzic most of my games are timing out these days, i think i'm starting to finally pick up isabella's neutral game, which (depending on character) i feel like is either really edge focused with slingshot and mines, or really center-stagish aerial heavy (with more projectile focused and sometimes shorter/faster characters)

@krruzic obviously you can't neglect the ground either but a most of her ground moves have a pretty slow startup so they're a lot more prediction heavy and i don't wanna try to get into that too much with the CPUs

@krruzic actually that's a lie some of my neutral is involving catching them with dash attacks, side tilts, and down tilts since the timing is different and it can be hard to tell the difference when i've been all up in your face

@pea another thing going for the timeout is a good strategy so don't worry about but if you're playing online please use 3 stock!!

@pea yeah ground moves are hard to practice on CPUs cuz they're just lagging and easier to respond to. I haven't fought many Isabelle's but it sounds like you know how to play her. Keep practicing and good luck. Isabelle is a good character just for pissing people off too. Use her kit for mind games and you'll have people rage SDing after you KO em once, which is not only the most satisfying I BEAT YOU!!! feeling + a hilarious smugness

@krruzic i'm definitely interested in learning how to safely implement the fishing rod wiggle into my toolkit (it's hard because fishing rod is so vulnerable) because i am 100% certain that after someone got KO'd by your side b they'd get pissed as hell at you doing that

@pea yeah lol that's annoying. There's also a way to grab people just before the latch onto the edge so practice spacing that out too. What I like doing is beat em up the normal way then go for the cheesy setup just to drive them crazy. Or tank a hit to fart on them as I main wario.

@krruzic yeah, i still screw up that spacing a lot, same with the pot over edge bitsi'm not really that good at smash bros in general yet, so i'm really only able to focus on myself and not think about what the opponent's doing, but i'm definitely gonna get there!

@pea :) keep it up. Smash is fun and even losing doesn't hurt too bad if you keep your cool. Always happy to see people playing it more seriously than just at parties. You sound like you have good game sense in general, you'll be kicking ass in no time.
