       it's amazing how about 3 or 4 months ago I was like "yeah I can't use emacs because it takes ages to start up and that doesn't work with my """workflow""""and now my emacs setup takes like, 45 seconds to start and it doesn't even bother me because I just launch it when I login and leave it open until I shut down my PC

       @pea i have never managed to get ansi-term to stop breaking at random due to face issues

       @benaiah it doesn't really... bother me tbh? I just don't use things that break ansi-term

       @pea ansi-term chokes sometimes but I’m with you.Why don’t you join the club and try guile emacs? I’m trying to get people into it. It works great but it’s slow.

       @K7ATR I'd love to use an emacs not based on elisp but I really don't think it's worth it to me to put my usage where my mouth is yetplus i've not really used guile much at all, I'm into CL mostly

       @pea ansi-term is pretty nice but honestly I usually end up doing pretty much every non-text editing related thing outside of emacs. I have everything I need neatly set up in tmux windows and it just works a lot better for me. the only exception being git, magit is too good to not use

       @sampo I actually mostly use git normally, but I have my EDITOR set up to use emacsclient in ansi-term and magit just prettifies everything that git opens up in it

       @sampo which i mean, arguably is a waste of a feature-packed package like magit but there's no standalone option for that and it's basically all I want out of it because I'm so used to CLI git

       @pea all your elisp works fine, it gets translated into guile automatically. There’s too much elisp out there to abandon the language just yet.But it’s not ready for every day use yet, soooooooo slow.

       @GraspingAnts run M-x ansi-term (or :ansi-term if you're the evil type)
