Alpine might make a good OS for a terminal only Pi 0W based cyberdeck. Keeping things simple, Alpine can be used in diskless mode where the microSD is read only and alpine includes a utility that remounts the filesystem rw and commits your changes and remounts back to ro. This makes it fairly robust to use without worrying about a more complicated power management system that needs to be integrated into the OS for clean shutdowns.

So you could have a dumb independent battery level meter on your device to monitor your remaining juice and not fear filesystem corruption if you run it all the way down.

@kelbotPlus an analog battery meter would be a brutal aesthetic. :)

@kelbot If you decide to make one, keep us updated on the progress and maybe write a blot post or something about it if you're able. I'm certainly interested!

@kelbot hmm, that’d be great for hvac/home ventilation controller, as must of the time if it powers off/on it can revert to base setting you’ve stored, or just last settings I guess same as normal. 🤔
