       I see some people doing the "welcome, everyone on mastodon is X thing" thing. I kind of wish they wouldn't, it's one of those sort of boundary forming not-quite-jokes that's just a bit blaah?I mean, partly it's just the gut reaction because for better or worse I'm usually not X, but also there are loads of people who do need this space who won't for varying reasons fit into whatever category X you choose. And giving those people space is what masto needs to be for.

       @JubalBarca those kinds of posts often make me feel a little unwelcome. I have even been told outright that the fediverse is not my "home turf" by people here. It's somewhat ironic given that Mastodon and the fediverse in general is designed to be diverse and inclusive to a fault; it's a federation, not a dictatorship.
