I have a series of meetings to go to on whether or not we've been using our engineering stamps appropriately. Not that we're running around stamping little beavers on things willy nilly, but that we aren't doing this. Sort of.We're under the (probably) mistaken belief that because our engineering work is only used internally and doesn't really have a public/worker safety dimension then it doesn't need to be stamped....

But our Responsible Engineer (as opposed to all of us irresponsible ones) just went to a seminar on this and the message was "stamp all the things!! 💖"I've always thought the stamp was a sign to muggles certifying that a nerd looked at this and deemed it OK. I mean it's not like I'm _not_ professionally responsible for my work just because it doesn't have a stamp on it.Mostly I just don't want to install notarius on my computer. Because it sssuuuucksss

@allan Personally, I'm disappointed that you're stamping things electronically rather than printing everything out and using a literal rubber stamp. This ruins my image of giant schematics and blueprints all over the place.I guess you can't really printout a macro-filled spreadsheet, though. (I mean, you *could*, but why?)

I used to work with a lady who would, when contemplating whether or not to apply her engineering stamp, ask aloud "should I put my beaver on this??"..I mean..😳

@ink_slinger lots of people still do ink stamp stuff. The problem is that whatever copy has that stamp is the only legit one, everything else is just a "copy" and that has a different legal meaning. Everyone wants a stamped copy so digital stamping it is.Also software used to have printed off pages that were stamped certifying the software before APEGA adopted notarius. My big complaint is that notarius is windows only.

Speaking of beavers, last year I went to Ushuaia and got to hear all about their giant beaver problem. They had some stuffed beavers on display, for the tourists, and in some places you were even encouraged to try eating a beaver. I politely declined as I don't swing that way, I'm a vegetarian.
