I got that letter from the landlord about my lease renewal. The letter says to send the response to a different address from usual, but the letterhead is still for the place I usually send the rent. The letter also doesn't say when the new rate applies. The rent is due on the first.I should probably call tomorrow to see if I can find out how much I'm actually paying and where I should send it, but I don't know. I'll probably just do the same check as usual and see what happens.

If nothing else I'm pretty confident that next month's rent should be the same as usual. I don't think they're allowed to change the rent with less than two weeks of notice. But can they change their office address with such little notice? Maybe.

@TheGrizzliGamer Yeah I sent the usual check but I'm going to call and ask about the specifics of the thing. We've had a couple strange payment incidents over the past few years and they've been honest and helpful so I don't really expect them to try and screw me over but they also don't seem the most organized bunch so it's good to make sure I have everything straight before making too many assumptions.

@crlf you never know, better be paranoid and safe than sorry and out of a place to live, like they could want to drastically raise the price if they can rent for a better sum and they get sneaky about it, call me paranoid but such is life :/

@TheGrizzliGamer The main scam I'm expecting is for them to charge me for all the maintenance that needs to be done when I move out. It's a 100 year old house. Some water damage, mold damage, old musty carpet, cracked paint, etc. I made a big list of these things when I moved in but the place is so old it's impossible to notice everything right away. But yes, it never hurts to be suspicious of one's landlord.
