       I've not eaten any sweets for about ten months. Consequently, I'm certain my taste perceptions have changed. I even perceive sweetness in things like lime juice.Last night, I made ganache with only cream & chocolate (85% cocoa); I really enjoyed it. I wouldn't have liked it previously.#LCHF #keto #lowcarb #food

       @fitheachI found the same with vegetarianism, once the amounts of umami/glutamate saturation dropped from my palate, I started appreciating those flavours much more in other foods. I'm dropping yogurt/cheese right now also on environmental grounds, and I imagine it will have another step-change effect..

       @cathal I used love drinking milk. I haven't been drinking any for a long time. Tasted a spoonful a few days ago, and it was really sweet, too.

       @zyx Phew! Probably not a beginner (that's me) level video as it assumes some knowledge of lipids, triglycerides, LDL, HDL etc.I think a second watch, in a few days, would let it sink in.

       @penguin42 Indeed. 😃 It was a great suggestion. My OH is particularly keen in the idea, as she wanted a choccie fix without incurring too much sugar intake. Ganache provides that fix.Next stage might involve making our own chocolate (though buying ready-made bars might still be cheaper).

       @fitheach what I've done in those scenarios is pause any video (and the same reading science papers too) to look the word/concept up. Can take dozens of exposures to a concept to get even close to recall on it. Push to your limits sometimes or just breeze on past the stuff you don't get.

       @orbifxI've come across veggie LCHF people, even vegan LCHF, but that probably involves a *lot* of olive oil and coconut oil. Discussion for another day though...@cathal

       @zyx I have a similar technique. I just scribble a note, sometimes a single word, of things I don't understand, as the video is playing.  I research my unknown concepts, and then re-watch the video to see if my gaps have been filled.It is like attending a lecture, but with the benefit of seeing it again if needed.

       @fitheach In the summer, I filled a glass with ice, added some lemon juice, and salt, and filled it with water.  Tasted sweet in a similar way.

       @petjal To be expected, I suppose. Even lime, lemon etc. are fruit.BTWMy other half has a drink she makes every day. It contains a small amount of lime topped up with 500ml water. She uses it as a "delivery mechanism" for salt & magnesium.
