       BASIC gets a lot of shit, but its ability to trivially manipulate hardware and ability to bootstrap LOWER level code are things modem languages could stand to learn from.

       Not to mention that many BASIC programming books are very clear about the existence of ML and give you idea of the advantages & disadvantage of using it.

       @ieure I've never seen someone bash BASIC. It's an awesome language. Now MS Visual Basic is garbage.

       @ieure I was expecting a content warning.All those years of mucking through business basic code and porting that stuffs to an HP UX 9000 Interpreter left a dark hole in my heart.I can feel the void sucking at my brain again.AaaaaaahThe voices are back.GOSUB! GOSUB!

       @ieure You're absolutely right. Commands like POKE, PEEK, and SYS made it so easy to do interesting things, and I don't think any other language does those things even half as intuitively.
