That feel when you realize there will never be a consumer tech device as good as the Nintendo Wii ever again

@Ocean I'm 80% with you, though I'm gaining a fondness for my Switch.

@mrguilt The Switch is okIt sucks that they dropped virutal console, they support less controllers, aren't backward compatible like the Wii was, don't have menu themes and personality like the Wii had, and don't have any of the cool diversion stuff like the wii had either (like Wii vote, or the weather channel, or that mii showoff channel, or the photo viewer)They seem to also be less friendly to modders this go aroundON A REAL NOTE THOUGH, the Wii is very hard to follow up. Idk if they'll ever make something that gr8 again

@Ocean I definitely agree it's going to be a classic. The PlayStations and XBoxes are OK, I guess, but lack the personality and innovation. I see you point about the personality (though I did create a Mii). Backwards compatibility wasn't a huge issue for me--I still have a Wii, and never had its predecessors--though I really want a modern Wii Sports/Sports Resort/Fit for my Switch.

@mrguilt I guess what I'm saying is that the Switch isn't as perfect of a package as the Wii was, and I don't think anything else could ever be that again lelAnd mean heck Wii Sports was the launch title and that is the best selling game of all time, right

@Ocean I can definitely see Wii as a better package than the Switch. That said:1. Nintendo seems to have dialed in the casual/non hardcore gamer crowd. I can't think of as many titles for other platforms with the same personality. See Wii Sports, Mario Kart, etc.2. Likewise, I think they do better job at social gaming. They lend themselves to many folks playing a game together. 3. While Switch may not be as unique/clever as the Wii, combines a lot of neat stuff that is innovative on its own..

@Ocean The combined handheld/console nature was a serous game changer (no pun intended) in my household. Love that I can play on a big screen, then switch to a handheld when we want to watch something. We haven't done "kickstand" family play that often, but it's been fun.

@mrguilt My thing with that, my big complaint about that design. It's that it does both, but it's not perfect at either. It's not super portable because it's so big, I can't fit it in a pocket, etc.And because it is mobile and battery powered the hardware is underpowered for a home system. So stuff runs at 720 30fps all that time..
