So this has got me the closest to quitting Linux; netplan... All I wanted to achieve was a static IP address on Ubuntu 18.04. so/etc/network/interfaces isn't used any more so I took to learning netplan. This seems way too fickle with using yaml. I must have written out good known working IP address config multiple times only for netplan try to tell me to go to hell. I finally got this working by copying from a forum and then adapting. Feels retrograde. Very uncool #lunux :(

@tocageek Can't you just define it under /etc/hosts, or change it with your router?

@tocageek it's a rare occasion when I can give advise rather than ask. Remember to check your desired IP is in the DHCP pool.
