@lynnesbian meh, it's rather that Torvalds makes a stool, then Stallman takes a back from his ideal chair project and mixes both. It's still missing a pillow which will take decades to arrive, at which point there will be millions of them and huge battles about which pillow is best

@lynnesbian :-/Come now, you know it's more like Stallman built the hammers, nails, legs, and pillow on the chair and Linus came by and put the seat on the chair and then laid the pillow on top of it.

@lynnesbian I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it.

@lynnesbian I'm legit getting annoyed by this. I know it's comedy, but this is not at all what happened and I don't know if you are even aware of the history of what happened or you are and you're just trying to get a reaction.Look, I'm super-annoyed with rms for a bunch of other reasons. His recent GKCC was totally wrong and he's a creep in a bunch of other ways. But the GNU project is more than him, and the contributions to the GNU operating system are far more than icing.

It's really fuckin good at this. For what it's worth: gcc and glibc are the USA of system software: shitty, generations behind the competition, built on a terrible legal foundation, and you'll definitely regret it if you call them out in public

@v0idifier not per/pers per se, but the fact that the essay it comes from contends that pronoun choice is purely a grammatical issue, allowing rms to say "We do not owe it to anyone to change our grammar according to per wishes" w.r.t. preferred pronouns and, well, yikes yikes yikes
