I just don't know what to think about the #35c3 presale. Weird system where like 1 second decides whether you get a ticket or not.

@0x11de784a I'm sure the ticket team welcomes suggestions for better systems!

@rixx That's the problem. What would be a better way? I'm petty sure they evaluated some kind of lottery system already. That would be a solution I would think of as more fair, at least from my experience with the fusion festival.

@0x11de784a Any lottery system requires personalized tickets. I can't imagine that people will work with a CCC where they have to show their IDs.

@rixx Makes sense. I have not enough time to really think about it right now, but I'm not sure IDs are necessary. When only the kind of distribution changes and tickets are send as pdf and printed in the end, why does that need IDs? The lottery would only decide who gets a ticket. Would that work?

@0x11de784a @rixx I think the problem is how to prevent people from registering themselves multiple times for the lottery to improve their chances. If you for example base it on unique email-addresses people could just make hundreds of them to improve their chances.

@scrip @rixx Ah okay, that seems to be harder so solve.IIRC, in the case of fusion festival, there were no IDs necessary for the lottery phase, only when entering the festival later. But their system had a group system, too. Means, you could register either as individual or with a group (of friends etc.). So you had the chance that all or none of your friends got tickets. I guess most people wanted to go with friends or not at all and therefore only registered with the group (= one email).

@0x11de784a @scrip Well, no, you don't have to have IDs for that phase, but you *have* to give them your real name and they can (and sometimes do) check that against your ID on arrival. And you *need* personalized tickets as soon as you have a lottery, since otherwise the persons who manage the most signups win.
