Cars are bad for regular and repeated travelling. When people commute in cars, they get stuck in traffic and everyone is delayed. Scheduled multiperson transports (Trains, trams, buses, etc.) are immensely superior for commuting.BUT! They are bad for spontaneous or acute travel. Noone takes the train to the hospital in an emergency. The bus sucks when I want to buy groceries for multiple days at a time.A solarpunk society must have solutions for both categories.

@zatnosk Why are scheduled multiperson transports immensely superior for commuting? Because you don't have to drive them and they are safer? That sounds like a technical problem that should be easily solvable with some infrastructural investment in PRT.

@zatnosk Cars are superior for commuting if your home and workplace are nowhere near a public transport stop.
