weirds me out that i can remember a specific moment where i attained self-awareness and most people, apparently, can't

@Kat same3 years oldshortly after moving into a new condopart of it happened while sitting on the counter, with my mom cooking dinnercarrotsi had the sudden revelation that i was a person, and could have my own likes and dislikes, separate from my motherthat i was a separate entity from her, that my emotions and goals were mine, and she had different onesand at that point with my newfound knowledge decided and vocalized that i do not like carrots

@Kat i also realized *very* shortly after that other people, being other people, observed me and thought about me differently than i did, and had their own internal views of themselves that may differ from how i see them

@ky0ko That's really cool, this is the first time I've read about how developing a theory of mind actually feels! I remember shit like time being distinctly different - very slowly bouncing balls, for instance, or the fact that a traveling time of 10 minutes was my subjective "hour" for a while, but not this. It's really cool!
