If you're using an app called Husky, beware, it's a malicious version of Tusky (Tusky's the legit one) maintained by white supremacists.It does not comply with all activity pub protocols, it does not respect blocking, and they've started blocking legit fediverse instances - mine included - at the code level. Uninstall and install Tusky (with a T) instead.

@perfectblueA friend of mine is blind and I wouldn't like them to miss all the fun.To expand on this:Imagine a diorama, a small cube encompassing a scene of life at a scale, with miniatures representing all objects / people that exist there.A comic book is like copies of the same diorama, captured at different points in time, and arranged chronologically like rooms in a doll house.The magic happens when the superhero can literally reach or move through adjacent rooms in this dollhouse, accessing different objects from past or future dioramas. Obviously the future is changed by his actions, so the next dioramas in the timeline are affected by his changes.An alternative explanation is that the hero can open portals across space and time, but it's much funnier when following the rules and limitations of a comic book format.

The twitter feed format is too demanding and doesn't let you get organized.How about this:Thumbnails of the people you follow, sorted by custom preference/groups/date, etc. with those with unread messages always at the top. Hover for balloon popup with a bit of their latest toot.Click on thumbnail to see their recent timeline on left pane (messages will show "new" for unread statuses), click on message to expand on another pane.

We're fighting an uphill battle, that should be obvious by now. Perhaps this should be described as an asymmetric battle.They have money, media, resources.We have whatever we can save from our monthly expenses.The goal of the game, I'm afraid, is not victory, but survival. Survival from the coronavirus, survival from racist attacks, survival to find a place to live in because the rent is due.We cannot win this game alone; We have to ask for help and organize.The good news is that this is possible. Every vegetable you can grow at home is a saved vegetable expense. Every liter of water you collect and filter from the rain is a saved bottle expense. Every ride we share is half a ride we don't pay.And every cent we save is a cent we can donate to those in worse situation than us. And from that come resources for the fight.It's very difficult but not impossible.The name of this stage is "community", and we got a late start. And then comes the next stage: Resistance.

The thing about resistance is that as laws become more and more draconian, it becomes significantly harder to write about them online.If piracy was illegal, the next danger is talking *about* piracy beoming illegal. If strikes are illegal, then they'll classify organizing strikes as conspiracy to commit a crime, and so on.Even more dangerous than illegality is surveillance: No matter how legal is the resistance you plan to organize; if they can see the talk, they can shut you up - or worse, take you down.Organizing any kind of resistance MUST be done offline, which is why forming a local community is ESSENTIAL.Time is running out; if you wait until the elections, it will be too late.Good luck.

Feeling kinda down right now. For the last year I've had to deal with my father's decreasing mental health. Dementia, worst possible scenario. After several months of him not improving we finally found out he had cirrhosis; his liver was completely destroyed due to his alcoholism.Last month he died in the worst possible conditions, not even awake and after lots of suffering.We lost the house, my savings are gone, and I'm over 2K of debt.This week I received the IRS notice and I had to pay over $200 of taxes, further increasing my debt.I'm terribly depressed right now and I don't know what to do with my life; I'll have to work for several months just to get out of the debt.I lost all motivation to go on with my novel.
