it'd be nice if you just installed electron one and then every app that usually bundled it uses the system-wide version insteadbecause right now i have electron distributed with signal, riot, keybase, discord... so many electrons

@lynnesbian if only computers supported some kind of... shared objects... or... dynamically linked libraries.I hope they invent that soon.

the only possible problem with this is apps breaking with newer versions of electron but this is also a problem with Every Website in Existence and we seem to have held up just fine

@lynnesbian Then you get version conflicts between operating systems/different applications and electron loses its main appeal, developer comfort(all in all, not an entirely bad thing)

@elomatreb @lynnesbian Yea, if only they didn't all take up 100MB+ of space and consume a gig of ram each. It's like the Java days when every app came packaged with their own JVM! Sadly, I think an equivalent JVM may actually consumer fewer resources than Electron. 😬
