@crushv do you think it would be difficult for someone who has hated every moment of android development they've suffered through to put together an app that prompts you for text, feeds it to cowsay, and spits out an image you can share to other apps

@ddipaola copypasta from the other thread: do you think it would be difficult for someone who has hated every moment of android development they've suffered through to put together an app that prompts you for text, feeds it to cowsay, and spits out an image you can share to other apps

@sir probably? the only Android thing I've done is implement a Makefile build process to avoid the abomination that is gradle

@sir Android dev here, saw your question: working with the JNI (Java Native Interface, used to call C methods) can be a bit tedious. Especially if you're not already an intermediate-level Java dev with some C experience. If you can find a pure Java implementation of cowsay, itll make your life much easier

@wbrawner cheers. I'm thinking forget the Android dev and just hack something together in Termux

@sir I do hybrid mobile development with Ionic, and I saw your idea in another toot. This sounds dead simple to do in any cross platform framework, I'm sure there are 10,000 JS image generation libraries.Heck there's probably a cowsay generator.

@sir I went ahead and made the app for you, sounded like a fun little project: https://github.com/wbrawner/cowsay-android

@sir that should be easy with Qt/qml :), no need to worry about the JNI not playing nice
