Can Zuck actually pull this off in 2025? Probably not. But that’s not going to stop him from laying off engineers again this year, and forcing the remainder to rely on #AI to get work done that their ex-colleagues would have helped with. AI is still going to suck, but Zuck is going to force it to “work”.

OK I’m deleting the post in which I suggest you gum up the works because it may be misinterpreted as advice to break your employment contract. You get the gist, though. You don’t have to *wholeheartedly* support what your employer is trying to do. Find another job if you can, but remember to collect a paycheck while you do so.

@alienghic My eyes are on the Germans. VAG, BMW, and especially Mercedes are coming up with really compelling and (true to German automotive heritage) over-engineered EVs that should be quite reliable.My eyes are also on Hyundai. Their IONIQ line of cars are proving to be very good.It’s disappointing to see Toyota and Honda hemming and hawing and reluctantly dipping their toes in, instead of embracing the tech. I don’t expect anything great to come out of Japan any time soon in the EV department.

Things can ALWAYS get worse, and things can ALWAYS get better. Working to make things better is worth doing. Feeling smug and telling people to give up is not; it’s the asshole’s easy way out.

Absolutely wild to see people online telling others to become *more individually responsible for their own food safety* when regulations are dismantled, instead of, you know, fighting to not dismantle food safety regulations.There is a sickness in the USian psyche, and that sickness is the assumption that everything must be solved through independent effort. @jsstaedtler I played and enjoyed Tunic thanks to its beautiful art and music, but like you, I find myself wandering and lost a lot, even after more of the game is revealed to me. I think one problem is that the map is frustratingly convoluted. Getting from point A to point B, even when both points are clearly visible on the screen, is frustrating and time-consuming, often involving going far off-screen so you can cross some hidden barrier, then going back to the first screen. I’ve actually looked at YouTube videos to figure out how to get somewhere that I can literally see as I walk past it.Another frustration is that you can’t tell if something is inaccessible because you don’t yet have the skills/unlock/equipment to reach it, or because you can’t figure out the puzzle.

@jsstaedtler There is 100% a natural barrier to weight loss IMO. I cut out most carbs from my diet (there is plenty of hidden carbs anyway) and my weight plummeted until I reached a point and it will not go any lower.
