@dansup that’s the biggest lesson we get from dogs. Experiences matter grab every day

@fletch Yeah, and I feel so bad for spending so much time coding, working on Pixelfed and Loops while I could have been spending time with him.I'll never take them for granted again, I feel so empty. He was such a big part of my life for 9 years, we had a daily routine. Now everywhere I look is filled with memories of him, and he deserved so much better.

@dansup people are the only creature that death does not mean the end, losing an animal is hard, & losing a pet, a close friend and a part of many wonderful memories is even harder, some argue that it's the hardest thing everas son of a veterinary doctor, I know this very well, in 2011 I lost my cat, to make it worse, her only photos are in a dumbphone that now cannot keep running 5 minutes without being plugged in, & is totally unsupported in TN, its GPRS connection and lack of IR doesn't help

@dansup sorry that your pal has passed. I'm sure he loved you just as much, and enjoyed every moment he spent with you. I'm sure he knew you cared.

@fletch @dansup The very fact that you are so concerned about this shows that your dog could not have had a better friend.

@solidar_IT @dansup I held my little one as they injected the euthanasia dug cocktail. I held her till the vet confirmed her heart had stopped. Crying again, I feel he little body collapse against me.

@fletch @solidar_IT yeah, that was the hardest part.he didn't go immediately, the vet almost went and got more sedative, almost like he was fighting and omg like it was sooo hard.I'm so lost rn, he witnessed the birth of Pixelfed just watching me code for hours and being the only best friend I'd let in.he was my baby, since he was 8 weeks old. I'll never forget him, as tough as it is.

@dansup @solidar_IT I knew Gracie was a once in a lifetime companion when I moved overseas for work. We’d be separated for 6 weeks, I held her head in my hands at the airport and told her to look after mummy. For the next month and a half, she never left my wife’s side. Not once, even in the toilet. We are reunited in a new country, Gracie sits with us for maybe 15min, then walks outside and goes to sleep on the deck. She’d done her job.
