@drahardja I always thought the female voice computers of 70s films like #LogansRun, #TheAndromedaStrain, and #DarkStar sounded *more* menacing because they were so calm and efficient. Nothing as eerie as a voice helpfully telling you you're about to die.Also, I thought female voices were used because the higher pitch cuts through noise better than male voices. (I believe I read that in The Making of #StarTrek).

@TerryHancock @joejoetom @drahardja It's about higher formants in female voices. These days, you can treat a male voice with some processing to achieve largely the same result (cutting through noise), so it's more about tradition and audio tech awareness today
