Eagle Cap Wilderness: Day 2This was my most insane day of backpacking. 26 miles over 17(!) hours and 5700 feet of gain. I met a guy Isaac in the lakes basin who was also going to attempt Eagle Cap. Thankfully, he had more experience than me. There were some sketchy parts but we made it fine. We descended down steep granite scree and then glissaded down a couple snowy slopes. Next, we went over Glacier Pass. Very fun!#Backpacking #Hiking #Oregon #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

Glacier Peak Backpacking: Day 2The highlight of today was seeing my first bear in two decades. He was rummaging around a meadow next to the backpackers camp at Image Lake. Explored some unmaintained trails above Image Lake. Headed down toward Canyon Lake but turned around when I realized there was no one around for miles. Visited the Miners Ridge Lookout Tower.#Backpacking #PNW #WashingtonState #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Mountains #Landscape #LandscapePhotography #Bears

I did it! I summited Eagle Cap with the help of Isaac, who I met down in the lake basin.

Timberline Trail Backpacking: Day 2Ramona Falls and the recently reopened Yocum Ridge section of the trail were highlights on day 2. This section is passable but there are still some serious parkour challenges to overcome. I ended up almost competing the trail and camping in Paradise Park. Awesome day. I even got to meet @PizzaDemon, who was on a day hike!#Backpacking #PNW #Oregon #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Mountains #Landscape #LandscapePhotography #Mosstodon

Alpine Lakes PCT Backpacking: Day 2This trip is beyond my wildest expectations. I feel like I’m in another world. Never seen anything like these rocky mountains. I met a thru hiker named Prospector last night who suggested I visit Spectacle Lake. I took his advice and he was right, such an amazing place! I have to come back here for more someday. #Backpacking #PNW #Washington #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Landscape #LandscapePhotography #Mountains #Sunrise

Glacier Peak Backpacking: Day 3After spending the weekend with absolutely no cell reception, I woke up and hiked out the 21 miles I had planned to split into two days. Glacier Peak is an amazing place, and I plan to return, but I tend to start missing my family after three days. The North Cascades are truly special, I could easily retire in northern Washington.#Backpacking #PNW #WashingtonState #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Mountains #Landscape #LandscapePhotography

Eagle Cap Wilderness: Day 3Began the day by fording a swift river for the first time. Exhilarating! Then headed up Polaris Pass. What started as a beautiful climb through Lupine and other wildflowers turned into steep scree with about 4 inches of footing in places. Didn’t love that. Was very relieved to make it to the top. Slipped descending some melty snow on the backside of the pass but recovered. Lessons learned!#Backpacking #Hiking #Oregon #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

I don’t have the energy to post photos from today yet but these should give me the energy. Stopped by Voodoo Doughnut on the way home as a treat for smashing the trail.#Donuts #Doughnuts

Alpine Lakes PCT Backpacking: WrapThis was an incredible trip. Absolute gem of the northwest. I would put this as comparable to the Timberline Trail in terms of scenery and difficulty. I climbed over 5000 feet of elevation over 20 miles yesterday. I think that’s my limit, I was exhausted after. Saw the 2400 marker on the PCT, which was cool. #Backpacking #PNW #Washington #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Landscape #LandscapePhotography #Mountains #Sunrise

Timberline Trail Backpacking: WrapI made it back to Timberline Lodge before sunrise, so I completed the trail in about 49 hours. Took the Mountaineer Trail up to 7,000 feet to see sunrise from above Timberline Lodge. Amazing! First time seeing the Silcox Hut, which was originally built as a warming hut for mountain climbers.#Backpacking #PNW #Oregon #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Mountains #Landscape #LandscapePhotography #Sunrise #MountainMonday

Glacier Peak Backpacking: WrapHere are a few more photos. I would like to thank @GPJohnston for planning most of my trip for me! I would also like to thank @lonelymtn for suggesting I create an itinerary to share. I created a route on AllTrails with waypoints marked where I camped. Many other campsites are also marked on the map.https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/cloudy-pass-and-miners-ridge-loop-7f975a5#Backpacking #PNW #WashingtonState #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Mountains #Landscape #LandscapePhotography

@dansup Glad to hear because my kids were just trying to get me to approve a competing app without an English name.

Anyone here successfully get a Ghost blog federated with ActivityPub?Been researching this and sounds like it’s perhaps still in beta. I want to set up a website/blog and leaning towards installing self-hosted Ghost on a VPS. Would Ghost even be the right thing to use if I have no interest in email newsletters? (continued)

I’m no expert engineer but I’ve successfully set up NGINX, MySQL, and WordPress on an Ubuntu VPS in the past.Ghost has official instructions for Digital Ocean and Linode, and I have an inactive Linode account, but I am considering using a different provider. But, wondering if I should just stick with Linode since it is more supported?

@sturmsucht Thank you Chris! I’m in the process of installing Ghost on a VPS so I will wait for the update this summer. Not in a hurry and glad it is being worked on. I also signed up for the newsletter.

@_elena Sorry to hear about those issues! After setting up a self-hosted Ghost the other day I’ve already decided to move to Ghost Pro. Doesn’t seem like there are any cost savings of self-hosting, especially if I am just starting out. Just more work and troubleshooting.

@libreoffice An audio version would be nice. I tried to add the RSS feed to my podcast app but it doesn’t support video. Plus, I listen to podcasts on my commute so audio only is a must for safety and legal reasons.
