Eagle Cap Wilderness: Day 1I’m backpacking in the Wallowa Mountains for the first time and it’s as incredible as I imagined. Caught beautiful reflections at Ice Lake before the wind started. Climbed up to 9200 feet on the Matterhorn. Maybe it’s a healthy fear but I said nope to climbing near vertical scrambles and snow fields. Would love to learn how to safely someday. Heading towards Eagle Cap in the morning.#Backpacking #Hiking #Oregon #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

Eagle Cap Wilderness: Day 2This was my most insane day of backpacking. 26 miles over 17(!) hours and 5700 feet of gain. I met a guy Isaac in the lakes basin who was also going to attempt Eagle Cap. Thankfully, he had more experience than me. There were some sketchy parts but we made it fine. We descended down steep granite scree and then glissaded down a couple snowy slopes. Next, we went over Glacier Pass. Very fun!#Backpacking #Hiking #Oregon #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

I did it! I summited Eagle Cap with the help of Isaac, who I met down in the lake basin.

Eagle Cap Wilderness: Day 3Began the day by fording a swift river for the first time. Exhilarating! Then headed up Polaris Pass. What started as a beautiful climb through Lupine and other wildflowers turned into steep scree with about 4 inches of footing in places. Didn’t love that. Was very relieved to make it to the top. Slipped descending some melty snow on the backside of the pass but recovered. Lessons learned!#Backpacking #Hiking #Oregon #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains
