       boring and obvious take, but i find AI stuff only interesting when it fails in hilarious or dangerous ways, and i find grifters and snake-oil salesmen fascinating in a crime-drama kind of way. i'll never respect AI output as a creative work because it's just random machine garbage and i'm only interested in real people's art and struggles, because i can emotionally connect only to real people, i mean that is why we do art, writing, film, games etc, not to look at machine kitsch

       @mntmn basically the only utility i found for it is "stuff so mind-numbingly boring i don't want to do it myself, but sufficiently compact that i am willing to check the result thoroughly" which is a sliver of activities so thin i can probably count on two hands every time when a situation like that has arisen_so_ not worth the ... everything.

       @timonsku @mntmn I needed someone or something to fill in the blanks in the most aggravatingly tedious React bullshit today, and it worked basically perfectly. also just about the only times I ever got output that wasn't subtly wrong in some critical way

       @timonsku @mntmn I strongly feel that asking another human being to write React is, at the very least, rude, so while it _still_ doesn't justify the energy expenses and economic destruction and such, at least I avoid being rude to someone I presumably like

       @mntmn I miss that point in mid-2023 when the slop images were still chaotic, impossible fever dreams and biblically accurate shitshows, before uncanny hyperphotorealism and rock-tumblered comic strip drawings became the standard output. It wasn't art, it was just amusingly insane. That was the sweet spot.
