Happy Amazon Prime Day! Amazon collects mountains of data about how you use the service, but there is a setting you can change to make it harder for the company to use that data to sell you more things. #OptOutOctober https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/09/opt-out-october-daily-tips-protect-your-privacy-and-security#tip5

@eff this post is relevant only to US Amazon. Neither Amazon.ca nor amazon.co.uk offers these menu options.

@eff There actually is a »setting« that makes it even harder for Amazon to grab your data. Delete your Amazon account and don’t buy there anymore. It’s not hard. Alternatives are plenty. Why are not more people doing it? #Amazon #Delete

Your location reveals a lot about you, including where you live, work, volunteer, and hang out. Don’t let ad companies hoover up all that information. #OptOutOctober https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/09/opt-out-october-daily-tips-protect-your-privacy-and-security#tip7

@eff unfortunately, a lot of Bluetooth Based apps need it. I wish Bluetooth would work without location.

Did you know that by default, Strava shows your exact starting and ending points to other users? You can hide up to a mile radius around your home and other sensitive locations to stay safe while staying active. #OptOutOctober https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/09/opt-out-october-daily-tips-protect-your-privacy-and-security#tip9

@eff What people forget is that posting screenshots of their Strava activity map _as they see it_ will reveal those hidden sections. There are many posts where you see the main path in orange and the bits that were supposed to be hidden in black! #Strava #running

@eff You have to set up a Google account to be able to request this. That means giving the evil G a phone number...
