p.s. If you're wondering why I've featured groups so heavily, it's because groups are a way to allow all servers to communicate with each other regardless of size.If you follow a group, you will see all its posts no matter which server you are on. This helps smaller servers get a larger view of the Fediverse. When Guppe disappeared, it cut off many of the ways that smaller servers discover content on the Fediverse, and encouraging new groups is a way of rebuilding those connections.

@FediFollows Thanks! I feel like the death of guppe groups is a blessing in disguise. I feel like we can kind of start over with a new group architecture with a bit more deliberation.

@TKb0iZ Sorry to hear that š I've added your group to the post, hopefully that helps people discover it.Might be worth asking the maintainer @hello about the filtering problem? If the worst comes to the worst and you have to set up a new group, let me know and I'll do a special shoutout to get people to notice it š

@FediFollows Guppe disappeared? š® I still post to my group sometimes. I guess it still works for legacy groups but is no longer looked after?

@ethicalrevolution Nope, the Guppe groups have totally vanished. Whatever you're posting to them isn't going anywhere š The site was taken over because someone was able to buy the gup.pe domain before it expired (there was apparently some weird clause related to the .pe TLD which allowed purchases 12 days before expiration).Gup.pe is now just some random spam blog, there is no active server any more.More at https://social.growyourown.services/@FediTips/115164282623836102

@FediFollows I still morne the loss of the Art Mastodon instance. When I first joined, it filled my feed with beautiful art every day. I've since found artists through followers and random postings but it was still nice to find a bunch of Impressionist paintings in my feed every morning.

@FediFollows ASCII connoisseurs will be disappointed when the group described as "textfile art" is, in fact, "textile art" (on your website).š

@mvilain I'm not sure which instance you mean, but mastodon.art is still operating?

@FediFollows There was an instance a while ago that posted museum pics of various artists. The admin took it down rather unexpectedly. I don't recall it's name but it had "art" in it. Yeah, I know it's like those weird requests libraries and book stores get occasionally.
