       Mastodon.art is an instance for all manner of creativity, but we're primarily a safe space for marginalised people, and anyone is welcome to join us to take advantage of our strong moderation, creative or otherwise. You're also welcome to make an account here if you want to occasionally escape to a local feed that's full of art, for mental health reasons. For the creatives on our instance, you don't need to ONLY post about art. You are a complex, vast being and can talk about ALL of yourself.

       @the_moep @Curator tbh I moved from masto art because it was a bit too safe space for me, but never saw any problem with moderation there, so dunno. I guess people just cannot agree that's ok to be trans and do their own bussines without making trans people some sort of flag they have to capture.

       @Curator I appreciate this so much and it's one of the reasons I keep coming back. Art helps me cope with my disability, and it makes me feel like I can thrive. Having a safe space to share is so important and makes me feel like part of something bigger than myself, and that gives me motivation to move forward.

       @ddnnacheta There's no need for pedantry, smart assery, or sarcasm. Obviously the meaning of the word 'art' hasn't changed. Our instance is a community that revolves around art, but ANY community should cover the safety of its most vulnerable members *before* seeing to anything else.I'm sure you knew that that's what I meant, too. :)

       @Curator Actually, no. Because it's the second time I've seen you make that statement, so I'm not sure if you're zeal for protecting people has outweighed what should be the main purpose of the instance. People have the tools to protect themselves by blocking/muting. Yes, some may have disabilities that make the tools irrelevant, but the rest of us should use (and be allowed to use) our autonomy where/as we see fit.Dependence/Convenience is a major reason why things are so bad now.

       @ddnnacheta Autonomy includes being able to choose an instance that very clearly states in our About page that our primary focus is strong community moderation; autonomy includes having the option of joining a community that prioritises taking care of its most marginalised members so that people don't *have* to worry about doing it themselves.With regards to what 'should' be the main purpose of the instance - that's not for you to decide (continued)
