       @dansup the fact that the web right now is a mess does not mean everything we build should follow that messy habits.People on the fediverse usually have a better approach and conception of the web and would rather pay for stuff than getting the internet we get elsewhere filled with useless ads.

       @dansup I'm ad-free on Zelda.Zone now and it's nice, but ads are kind of depressing because like, it never needed to be THIS bad. Just like Flash, which was basically killed...well half because adobe sucks and never fixed it, but half because it just got so bad and misused people associated it with the bad uses. Flash ads never should have existed....probably still safer and faster than plenty of modern tracker ads tho

       @dansup I’m not sure how many folks would be game for using a web browser that injected ads into their experience.(The popularity of ad-blocking extensions for browsers would tend to undermine how big a gotcha this post is, either.)

       @dansup I feel like that's just a very loud minority, most Fediverse users seem to have a few braincells! If you try to do personalized ads and tracking it's a very different thing and I like to believe that the Fediverse would hate your platform to death for it but ads in general are the only chance to successfully host more intense content (video and high quality audio) on the Fediverse long term.
