I found it very boring myself when I saw it at the Montreal Museum =
of Contemporary Art in September. But it is not the kind of art I =
like. Too New Age for me. A drop in the Sea of Consensus.
But it was a piece of Art, no questions. It was a world, an =
experience for the viewer, a message from the creator, a mood =
ambient and a mood after, a (weak) reflexion of the creator, a =
work on the medium.
I did not like the actions controlled by respiration though =
(inhale and you go up (!), exhale and you go down). It is just =
gratuitous, and gets in the way. I understand that the creator =
wanted to be less litteral, but I think that any displacement from =
obviousness should be thought or at least should bring something =
to the viewer otherwise it becomes gratuitous, and ends up being a =
burden that prevents you from reaching the essence. I read =
somewhere (in these page ?) about a VW in which objects were =
controlled by your own brainwaves. THIS opens doors...
I'll go to the Biennale de Lyon, and will tell you about what I =
will have seen there.
