>All the really crappy VR environments I have seen are flawed mainly
>because of a lack of understanding about design and conceptual issues.
I now this may sound odd but could you exspand an crappy ?.
It may be I good idear to have a WHAT IS BAD IN A VR-WORLD
list. which as elmonts oferd up by others on what terns them off in a VR world
/VR-art work. It could give good pointers to understanding what others
think of VR.
Here is a start:
In some of William Latham,s works
I dislike the gordy couler sceems.
(This dos not mean I do not like William,s work, it is just one elmont that
I peranaly do not think works)
>It's a fun thing to stir old mediums and their philosophies into the mix.
To right! I think Ive got this one in the terminal stage.
Kick it an art form untill the craks opere and then see how you can fix it.
>Although one thing I personally rebel against is being forced to try and
>generate things that were another persons vision. In my work place a day
>can not pass without a mention of Gibson, or Stevenson. I hate the
>limitations that this
>style of literature seems to presetn. I'm refusing to read any of it until
>i know what my visions of cyberspaces are all about.
This is a good point, could other meadias coverige of VR pollut VR-artists
by plasing presher on them to produss VR which thay define as real VR.
>Many of the artists I met when I was working with the Interactive media
>Festival this year taught me a valuable lesson. That is to focus on the fun
>bits and get someone to work on the tech. There are some damn creative
>engineers out there who are itching to produce cool stuff. I know that
>Gideon May (Jeffery Shaw's engineer) is now making his own art pieces.
As a poor VR-artist I have no tec bakeup.
Nesesity "is" the mother of invenshon.
[But that at this time it the nature of the beast. My be like film
VRart will be made by a group of specialists each in there own field,
such as sound, set-design, costumes, lighting, cimimertografy, script
writhing, acting and so on all under the direction of the Director/producer
within editor thrown in for good mesher.(im a cheat ive postd this bit befor)]
Diclamer: Sorry for any spelling or gramer mistacks I am DISXYK
