So.

#inkscape, why do you do this? I've only changed the coordinate of one single path node 😠Edit: mmh, and changed the z-order of two elements… but that should not change their IDs?!?

Few people remember that, similar to old 5¼ inch floppy disks, CD-ROMs also had a write-protect feature, which was active by default. By opening a small hole 1 cm (.4 in) from the outer edge, e.g. with a standard office hole punch, it was possible to re-enable write access to the disk. However, due to an erratum in the Yellow Book standard, this feature was wrongly implemented in 99% of consumer CD drives, which instead interpreted an open hole as protection against *reading*.#misinfo

I was watching this video by Dylan Iwakuni and wondering what type of scale they were using. The divisions clearly look too large for centimeters, but then it's marked in tenths, not eighths like imperial scales???https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUTiTu0qil0TIL: traditional Japanese carpentry work still often uses the customary length units based on 1 shaku (寸) = 10/33 m = 30.3 cm.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_units_of_measurement#Length#woodworking

Somehow there weren't enough suitable spruce scraps in the workshop, so I bought a board at the home improvement store. Sadly I didn't take care to inspect it fully and only saw it's clean side, but when I got home, I noticed the heap of worm holes on the other side. So the first evening was taken up by a character-building session with the scrub plane and the long jointer before the "real" work could start 😅All in all this took around 10 hours with only hand tools and a random-orbit sander.

🤔Hach, Grenzen…[0]: https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=18/53.844753/8.574781[1]: https://maps.lgln.niedersachsen.de/katasterkarten-online/mapbender/application/katasterkarten-online_opendata#2000@8.57391/53.84461r0@EPSG:25832[2]: https://geoportal-hamburg.de/?MAPS=%7B%22center%22%3A%5B471941.41114026494%2C5966229.44308836%5D%2C%22zoom%22%3A8%7D
