       There are kids zipping around the neighborhood on their mini e-mountain bikes that they (presumably) for for Xmas, and I’m torn between “they’re going to get themselves killed” and “damn, I was born at the wrong time”

       @jerry Oh, we were always going to get ourselves killed. We didn't have e-bikes, but we also didn't have to bother with knee pads, shin pads, mouth guards, helmets, and anal bum covers.We also didn't have to grow up in a surveillance state. Our stupid hijinks are nothing but memories. Modern kids being dumbasses get immortalized for being dumbass kids.

       @draeath @pmonks @jerry Well, my son is a paramedic and has seen more than a few preventable deaths due to lack of helmets, and I know a family who lost a child due to lack of a helmet when they fell off a bike and hit their head on the curb (very low speed, too). So, anti-helmet people can joke all they want, but dead kids aren't funny.
