I'm a bit late to the thread, but better late than never. Also very cool to
see Bob Alberti actively posting here of SDF!
For Windows XP I like Lynx the best, Same with OpenBSD.
I've been using it since back in my dial up days when I'd have slow
internet connections. I like the black background, and the key commands
are etched into my brain.
For MS DOS Lynx is a favorite but I've yet to find a newer version that
plays nice with a 486SX Processor and math coprocessor emulation. With the
DX even the newest version of Lynx works great.
Another favorite is Minuet. It can also do really ancient HTTP, Finger. It
also has a built in text editor, calculator, calendar, and other goodies
found in Turbovision gui.
For really low spec MS DOS computers Gopherus by Mateusz Viste is a great
gopher client. I've found it to be really stable on any DOS system that
I've tested it on. It has a limit on large textfiles and directories to
not run out of ram which is a nice touch when you need it.
For Android 4 and up, Diggie Dog app has been a go-to for gopher browsing,
although lately I've been using Termux and running Lynx. On old Nokia Java

based phones I'm running Pocketgopher. If I recall I also have a version
running on Android 2.2
