I just miss the days when browsers supported lots of protocols. It was
just normal to mix ftp, gopher and http URLs.

The current discussions about protocols, smolnet and related stuff are far
too divisive for my taste. Browsers were (protocol-)inclusive in their
early days. I just want that back.

Today I'd wish for modular browsers and an easy API for writing own
fetchers and renderers instead of 1001 single protocol network file
       viewers competing with each other.

Who benefits from all this divide and conquer?

       Surely not the end user!
