       after much trial and error i finally figured it out.  i 
       tested it on both local sdf account and externally.  
       the cgi-bin directory goes within your gopher folder. 
       if you run pwd from within the cgi-bin folder it 
       returns /sdf/udd/w/YOUR-USERNAME/gopher/cgi-bin
       
       example gopher map entry: 
       0My CGI Script  ./cgi-bin/test.cgi
       
       folder permissions:
       drwxr-xr--  2 winsur8  nobody  512 Oct 27 21:48 cgi-bin
       
       script permissions:
       -rwxr-xr--  1 winsur8  nobody  64 Oct 27 21:48 test.cgi
