       recovery of the failed disk is 50% complete (~1tb imaged) with no errors.  
       The database for social.sdf.org was 85gb in size when the bios reported the 
       disk as unusable due to failure.  This may explain performance issues the 
       instance had, though there is no log of the disk "going bad", and that was 
       only made known when that node was rebooted after 600+ days of up time.
       
       While we have a replacement disk in place ready to copy the recovered data 
       to, what we may do now is just completely upgrade the instance to a new 
       server with a raid for better redundancy in a similar configuration to how 
       mastodon.sdf.org, social.sdfeu.org, toobnix.org, pixelfed.sdf.org and 
       lemmy.sdf.org are run.
       
       A note to the users of social.sdf.org will be sent out to see if there is 
       support for this.
