My instance doesn't appear to be blocked according to their list of blocked instances, but who knows... Mastodonters for some reason hate actually federating, because they might encounter opinions they disagree with.

Multiple lines sent still become multiple lines on the receiving end. It really feels like dreaming up issues as an excuse to use worse chat platforms.flaky connectionsYeah, this is kind of an issue, the de-facto solution is to use a bouncer on a more stable connection. Its not great from a usability perspective, but since most IRC users are techies, it doesn't appear to be a huge issue in practice. It would be nice to see a better solution than "rent a server and use that".

If I look at Matrix rooms, its used more as a forum where its just huge swaths of text, which wouldve been a better fit in, well, an actual forum, or maybe a mailing list.To take the definition of "chat", according to WM:Verb:to talk in an informal or familiar mannerNoun:idle small talklight informal or familiar talkThese definitions do not align with large swaths of text, so they are literally not "chat". They can be discussions, formal or informal, but thats different, and we already have something for this, discussion forums. IRC however is actually for chat, its right there in the name, Internet Relay Chat. People spamming or otherwise disrupting a channel with a large amount of text all at once is not, by definition, chat.

Similarly you can misuse other tools, but to then blame the tools that they don't support your misuse case well is very silly.

@lain@lain.com Seems rather common in Indonesia, my fiancee has 2 names but neither are a family or last name. During immigration application, we just made her 2nd name her family name, was much easier than try and explain the immigration office that she has no family name and that none of the forms are going to work.

I recently learned about "sup buah", or Indonesian fruit soup. So I made some myself, turns out its pretty delicious, and cools you down on hot days. The fruit you use is up to you, in my case its galia melon, canteloupe melon, jazz apple, and red grapes. For the liquid I was told to mix condensed milk with water, but I cheated and used Real(tm) milk instead of water. This makes it a bit creamier, which I personally like.
