Hesitant to say this, but I *think* I nearly dodged losing 1.5TB of completely legally downloaded movies, games and manga. So far the drive is readable again, but I haven’t been able to back it up to the new one yet (and will only attempt again this weekend).I blame NTFS for this, and the fact that I don’t have a Windows machine anymore (mainly running a MacBook since I’m a filthy iOS developer now, and still have my old Void Linux machine, which will become something else someday, once I have the time and patience to work on it).

I’ve rewatched it today for maybe the 5th time. I don’t remember my opinions on it over the years, but I feel like they’ve changed a lot. I don’t think young me, fresh out of not understanding much of Final Fantasy VII and whatever edgy anime was playing back then, actually liked The Spirits Within (though he’d probably also have hated a lot of things we like today).But the me today (still under construction) absolutely *loves* the fact that the entire plot is basically a search for a non-violent* way to solve the conflict. She also loves that the protagonist is a (mostly) non-sexualized woman who’s actually a character, not just a token to be saved. Everyone else is interesting enough for the movie to move along at a nice pace.The visuals hold up pretty well, though I don’t care for much of its soundtrack, dunno why. Maybe in a few rewatches this’ll be fixed as well.Fuck, even the villain almost shooting himself, then doubling down of firing Zeus is an amazing sequence.* Well, the neutralizing wave could be read as killing all the alien ghosts, but the final sequences could also be read as them joining the planet’s Gaia. I’m choosing the second.

Dismounted my wall mount to clean the years of accumulated dust and mold, and also remove all HDMI cables except one (don’t use everything at once to make it worth the pain). I’m completely sweaty and dead, my room still smells a bit of cleaning products. There’s still the lower piece of the wall mount, but I can’t do anything else today. :blobcatPuffyOhhh: :blobcatSweats:

Sad that the only place where I can reasonably get the new GURPS book is Amazon. They’re saying it’ll be here by the 2nd, but they still have yet to charge it. Also, it was ordered on the 19th.Of august.
