       A $499 MacBook Neo with the brains of a couple-year-old iPhone can run Xcode, Photoshop, Blender, Terminal, and pretty much everything else you can think of, yet your $3,200 iPad Pro, with a desktop-class chip, cannot 😑What are we doing here?

       So it turns out you can just hand a photograph of something to an AI like Tripo, and it will just spit out a viable 3D recreation 👀 Found this great little watchtower outpost thing on Pinterest, generated a mesh from it, and spent the evening learning how to use Blender enough to slice it up and make it printable, as an experiment. Only have access to the free mode, so the mesh is a bit blobby, but I'm very interested to see if it prints. Another alarming and problematic superpower of the AI era

       Used ChatGPT (images 2.0) to create an orky-looking missile silo. Passed it to Tripo3D to generate a mesh. Converted it to an STL with Blender. And now have it sliced up in Bambu Studio as a 9 hour print. Seamless AI to physical object flow? We'll find out tomorrow, as my current print is gonna take 24 hours 🤡

       Follow-up: these physical 3D-printed models were completely generated by AI, and came out almost flawlessly on the Bambu A1. I added a launcher console for funsies (source image generated in ChatGPT), though I could have scaled it down a tad#warhammer

       While I greatly oppose cutting kids off from YouTube and TikTok, if the UK knew what was good for it, it would ban adults from social media too. The sooner countries cut off unfettered access to foreign propaganda and malicious algorithms, the quicker society at large will recover. But nobody has the strength or the political capital to go that far
