       drew so many female charactersand yet it's with a male character that i'm actually considering figuring out how to do actual anatomy (usually i start off with characters fully-clothed, though recently i did get a bit better on making good-looking leg shapes)though i guess if i did the same with a female character, i would not be putting up this image here right now#pixelart

       my #linux UI hot take is that GNOME is actually better for getting people to adopt linux than KDE Plasma, including for those who are familiar with ms windowsif someone is transitioning to an entirely different operating system and user interface, you might think that starting off with something that looks a lot like windows might help, but what it really does is implant an expectation of "oh, things will basically be the same here" that inevitably leads to disappointment and regret when it eventually doesn'tin my opinion, it is healthier to start with something that doesn't look like either windows or macOS, and has its own design ideology, and let the user build up new habits and skills as they figure out that while some things will be familiar enough (such as overall concepts of windows, files and folders, drag and drop), other things are very different (no drive letters, software installable via repositories, perhaps even the command line)

       the industrial revolution and its consequences are a goddamn miracle of human progress! we somehow got from fitting 1 billion people on the planet and pondering whether it's already too many to having more than 8 and plenty of things to go around, made surviving until the age of 80 a common occurrence rather than a rare surprise, killed a whole bunch of diseases and made others easily curable, ensured so that billions of people can afford a quality of life that would only be accessible to nobles only a few centuries ago, what's not to love? sure, a lot of that isn't equally distributed and comes at a terrible cost for some, but even then, people are hard at work solving those challenges as well!just because a small group of assholes are currently hogging a lot of that progress to themselves and preventing the wealth of this planet from being distributed more fairly, doesn't mean we should go back to a kind of society where most of people toiled hard in the fields, any possibility of a professional career depended on you being a child or friend of someone already in that career (and gave you no choice of which specific career to take) and culture was near-completely hogged by religious authorities
